July 4 has never felt so hollow to me. I try to have hope for the future as I have an adult disabled love in my care and have MS myself. This life is a balancing act for sure. There are people who realize and own the horrors of our past and seek to make things better and others who continue to live/celebrate the past. I have to hope that goodness will win. Thank you for your thoughtful writing.
Thank you for this.I think the challenge we have before us in this time and at all times is to support works of peace and justice and to stand in solidarity with those who are victimized by violence and injustice.
The mention of "transporting" people immediately brought to mind what the current U.S. admin is doing now. They are transporting non-citizens and citizens to offshore gulags, just like England and France (and Spain) did in the 1500-1600s up through the 19th century. I guess 20th century as well, just not as out in the open. Snatching people off the streets and press-ganging them into planes to prison camps somewhere. When the U.S. stops paying for these offshore prisons, at some point, wonder what the next step for these prisoners will be? The horror, the horror.
the irony of people who were forced out of their homes forcing other people out of their homes is astounding.
when the formerly oppressed become the oppressors, their viciousness and cruelty are unmatched. rwanda should have taught us that fact. this is a reminder.

I would like to share this on other platforms, is that all right with you?
